Hello, world!
We're Dope Capybara — a tiny indie mobile studio shipping calm, useful and slightly weird apps. Here's the elevator pitch.
Hi everyone — welcome to the Dope Capybara blog.
We’re a super-tiny indie mobile studio (two employees, zero meetings — see the team page for an unflattering group photo) building apps for Android. Our north star is simple:
Calm, useful, slightly weird.
That means no ads we wouldn’t tolerate ourselves, no shady analytics SDKs, no subscriptions for things that should obviously be one-time purchases, and a strong preference for offline-first design wherever it makes sense.
What we ship
Right now you can grab two of our apps from Google Play:
- Year Progress 2026 & Goals — a minimal year tracker with goals, charts, themes and Material You widgets.
- English Vocabulary Test — a quick, scientifically-grounded vocabulary size test mapped to CEFR levels.
A few more are bubbling in our open labs. We’ll post devlogs here as they come together — sometimes the messy version, sometimes the polished one.
What this blog is for
- Devlogs and behind-the-scenes notes
- Release announcements
- Occasional opinions on indie mobile development, design, and the absurdity of modern app stores
- Maybe one day, a long post about why our team photo features a monkey
If any of that sounds interesting, grab the RSS feed or say hi on Twitter.
Until next time — the Dope Capybara team 🐒🐈
